The meal planner app for families, flatmates and friends
The same question every day: what are we eating today? MealCrew answers it for the whole week. The app plans breakfast, lunch and dinner, collects your recipes, writes the shopping list and knows what is in the pantry – on your own, with your family, flatmates or friends. Free, without ads, as an Android app and in the browser.
Create your weekly meal plan automatically
Out of ideas for the next few days? Tap Suggest meals and MealCrew fills the free lunches and dinners with recipes that fit:
- Fits your crew: meat, fish, vegetarian or vegan – what suits everyone who is eating is preselected.
- Fits your day: maximum preparation time, lunch or dinner only, 2 to 7 days.
- Balanced: the traffic light rates recipes green, yellow or red. "No red" or "green only" leaves out the heavy dishes.
- Less waste: "Use the pantry" suggests dishes you already have most ingredients for.
- Variety: what you ate in the last four weeks moves to the back.
Don't like a suggestion? Swap it. The rest goes into the calendar with one tap – with ingredients and servings.

MealCrew recipes plus your own
MealCrew comes with a growing collection of its own recipes to cook, on its way to around 600: mains, soups, salads and bakes for every diet. Add your favourites too:
- By link from a recipe site or blog, also via "Share".
- By photo: snap a cookbook page and text recognition fills in ingredients and steps.
- With AI: the magic wand writes the request for ChatGPT, Gemini & co. – the answer becomes a recipe with one tap (how it works).
MealCrew scales servings, and cooking mode guides you through the recipe step by step.
A shared shopping list
From meals turns your food plan into a shopping list – with only what is actually missing. Whatever is in the pantry or "always there" (salt, oil, spices) stays off. Everyone in the crew sees the same list and ticks items off together, even without signal in the shop. Scan a barcode and the item is on the list.

Pantry and best-before dates at a glance
One tap moves your shopping into the pantry. Add the best-before date and MealCrew warns you before something expires – and finds recipes that use exactly those items. Throw away less, buy fewer duplicates.

Who is MealCrew for?
- Families who no longer want to keep the weekly plan in one person's head – children don't need their own account.
- Flatmates who shop together and want to know who is eating.
- Couples and friends who cook or eat out together.
- Just you, if you simply want to ask "what shall I cook today?" less often.
Besides home cooking, MealCrew also records deliveries and restaurant visits. Insights show what you had most often and what eating out costs.
Free and ad-free
Planning, recipes, shopping list and pantry are free – without ad banners or tracking, with data stored in Frankfurt am Main. MealCrew Plus unlocks extras for the whole crew: automatic meal planning, "Cook from your pantry", insights, a larger pantry and printing the shopping list.
Start in your browser now – the Android app is coming to Google Play soon.
Frequently asked questions
Is MealCrew free?
Yes. The weekly plan, recipes, shopping list and pantry cost nothing and show no ads. MealCrew Plus is an optional subscription per crew for extras like automatic meal planning and insights.
How do I make a meal plan for the week?
Add meals to the calendar with + – or let MealCrew fill the free lunches and dinners of the next few days with Suggest meals. Then put the ingredients on the shopping list with From meals.
Can several people use the same plan?
Yes. Invite family, flatmates or friends to your crew with a link. Everyone sees the same plan, the same shopping list and the same pantry. Children or guests are people in the crew without their own account.
Is there a MealCrew app?
MealCrew runs in the browser on phone, tablet and computer. The Android app is coming to Google Play soon; an iPhone app is planned.
Does the meal planner handle vegetarian or vegan diets?
Yes. Every person in the crew has their own diet. The planner preselects what suits everyone who is eating and warns you if a dish doesn't suit someone.
